【内容】
「はじめに」には以下のように書かれている。
・あなたは銀行には2種類あるということをご存知でしょうか。1つは、お金を預けたり、借りたりする、普通の銀行、もう1つは、いわゆる「宇宙銀行」という想像上のもの。そして、注目すべきは、この宇宙銀行へ預けるのはお金ではなく“徳”であるということ。人を喜ばせたり、尽くしたり、社会のために役立つようなことをすると、それが徳となって宇宙銀行に積み立てられ、満期になると積み立てられた徳の量だけの恩恵が“ラッキーな現象”として授けられるというもの。
・著者は心理カウンセラーとしてこれまで多くの方の悩み相談を受けてきた。その内容の問題点のほとんどは、自分のことから周りのものへ少し視点を変えるだけで解決に向かう種類のものだった。話しを聞いた後、著者はそこを指摘し、必ず最後にこう言うという。「他人を大切にし、他人のために考え行動する“愛他心”を持って毎日を過ごしてみませんか」と。すると、このことをしっかりと実践した方の周りには、不思議なことが起きたという。この本は、そういった内容をまとめた著者のカウンセリングという仕事の集大成・総決算である。
以下に、各章毎の内容、印象に残った点を挙げる。


第1章 宇宙銀行は存在する
・人の役に立ったんだという喜びは、いろいろなモノを買ってもらうことよりも、ずっと大きい。
・相手の立場に立って物事を考え、「こうすると、みんな喜ぶんじゃないか」「こうしてあげると、あの人は助かるんじゃないか」と思えることを、できる範囲、可能な範囲で行えばいい。
・「今日は疲れたからやめておこう」「明日から始めよう」と言って先延ばしにしていてはダメ。思い立ったが吉日で、すぐにやることが大切。


第2章 だんだん運が良くなる預金法（初級編）
・笑顔にはその場の雰囲気を明るくおだやかにし、そこにいる人をすがすがしい気分にさせてくれる効果がある。さらには「私はあなたのことが大好きです」「あなたと仲良くしたいです」「いっそに、楽しいひとときを過ごしましょう」といった親愛のメッセージが込められている。人は笑顔を振りまいてくれた人に、好感を抱かずにはいられなくなる。
・言葉の使い方1つで、人は不快にもなれば愉快にもなり、暗くもなれば明るくもなる。ということは、みんなが聞いて不快になるマイナスの言葉を口にするなんて、もってのほかである。プラスの言葉を武器に運気を変えてしまおう。
・「あなたは十分価値ある人間ですよ」という気持ちを伝える格好の役目を果たしてくれるのが、「ありがとう」という言葉。「ありがとう」という言葉を口ぐせにするためには、日ごろから感謝の気持ちを持って人に接していくことが重要。
・「その場において重要な存在でありたい」「他人よりも優れていたい」「人から敬われていたい」という人間特有の心理作用を逆手にとって、相手の自己重要感を高めるように努めれば、相手を喜ばせることができる。
・人をほめる際のポイントは、①みんなの前でほめる、②陰でほめる、③わざとらしくいわない、④具体的にほめる、⑤タイミングを大切にする。
・お布施とは、葬式や法事においてお坊さんに渡す謝礼のことだけを指すのではない。托鉢僧にお金やお米を与えることをお布施と考える人もいるかもしれないが、必ずしも金品とも限らない。お布施の中には、お金やモノを与える“物施”のほかに、他人に知恵や知識を授けてあげる“知施”と、悩み苦しんでいる人に人生の真理を教える“法施”というものがあって、むしろあとの2つの方が重要であると仏教では説いている。


第3章 人生がますます楽しくなる預金法（中級編）
・他人のために時間を捧げるという行為も、他人に喜びを与えたり、尽くすことになって、宇宙銀行に徳の預金となって加算される。
・困っている人がいたら、自分の人脈を紹介してあげるべき。
・気配りがうまくできるようになるためには、「自分があの人と同じ状況にあったら、どういうことを考えるだろうか」「こういうときに、こういったことをされたらどんな気分になるだろうか」という代理想像能力（空いてが何を欲しているかを知る能力）を身につけることが重要となる。
・誰に対しても謙虚な姿勢で接していくべき。誰に対しても「腰の低い人」という印象を他人に与えることができれば、人はあなたに対していっそうの親しみと好感を寄せるようになる。人にそういう印象を持たれること自体が、喜びを与えたことになる。


第4章 もっともっと幸せになれる預金法（上級編）
・ネガティブな返答をするときは、ポジティブな言い方にちょっと置き換えるだけで、相手に与える印象がだいぶ違ってくる。
・人のイヤがることを引き受けることには、大きなメリットがある。ただし、誤解がないようにいうと、他人も嫌いで、自分も大嫌いなことを行いなさいといっているのではない。そんなことをしたら、自分自身の不快感が増大するだけ。他人は嫌いであっても、自分ならそれほど不快にならないこと、ストレスもさほどたまらないようなこと、その気になればなんとかできそうなこと、そこに目をむければいい。
・人から何か頼まれ事をされたら、プラスアルファの付加価値をサービスとして付け加えることも、人に喜びを与え、尽くすことにつながっていく。
・生きる目的や生きがいなどで悩んでいる人は、ボランティア活動を行ってみるのもよい方法である。それも、難しく考える必要はなく、簡単にできる小さなことも沢山ある。
・「三尺三寸の箸」という仏教の教え。「自分本位の気持ちを捨て、相手のことを第一に考えるようにすれば、相手も同様の態度をとってくれるようになる」ということ。この教えを日々の生活の中に取り入れていくためには、相手の気持ちを尊重することが重要となってくる。具体的には、3回に2回は「譲歩」してみるクセをつけるということが大切である。
・自分の使命を自覚して仕事に取り組んでいる人とそうでない人とでは、スタートラインが同じでも、その後の展開はまるで違っている。
・宇宙銀行へ徳を積みたてる行為。１つ2つでかまわないから、できそうなものを早速実行に移している。それも、できることならコンスタントに行ってみましょう。習慣にしてしまえれば、いうことなし。そうすれは、自分でもびっくりしてしまうくらい人生が好転していくのを実感するはずである。


第5章 宇宙銀行の「預金通帳」はこうして作る
・宇宙銀行で預金通帳を作る場合は、面倒な手続きは不要。いつでもどこでも自分の都合のいいときに簡単に作ることができる。なにしろ、願望を掲げるだけでいいのだから。願望を掲げると、人生に生きがいや希望が持てるようになる。その方向に向かって突き進もうとする意欲が湧いてきて、宇宙銀行に預金を積む張り合いが生じてくるようになる。
・願望という名の預金通帳を作る際には、以下の4つの心がけを肝に銘じる必要がある。①実現可能な願望を掲げる、②願望の内容をできるだけ具体的にする、③欲望に打ち勝てるかどうかチェックしてみる、④なりたい自分をイメージする。
・願望を掲げたら、とにかく積極的に考え、積極的に行動するようにする。相応の努力も忘れずにする必要がある。努力を怠ると、状況はいっこうに好転することなく、絵に描いた餅で終わってしまうことになる。
・一生懸命人のために尽くしたり、喜びを与えるように努めても、一方でグチや不平不満をこぼしていたり、誰かの悪口を口にしていたら、相殺されてしまう。
・自分の運を良くして、幸せになることを望むなら、まず相手を幸せにすることだけを考えてみる。見返りなんか期待してないで、「やりたいから、やらせていただく」という感覚を大事にしていく。それを自分の楽しみ、生きがいにしていく。


おわりに
・人間は、いくら物質的に恵まれていても、人から喜ばれ感謝されることがないと、本当の幸福感は得られない。なぜなら、私たち人間が生を受けた本当の理由が｢人から喜ばれ、感謝されること｣にあるから。すなわち、私たちの最高の願望は、財産をつくることでもなく、会社で出世することでもなく、大きな邸宅に住むことでもなく、「人から喜ばれ感謝されることによる幸せを得ること」なのではないか。
・著者が読者に伝えたかった「宇宙銀行」の考え方は、まさに人間の幸せの総量を、みんなで分け与えながら暮らしていこうということに尽きる。そのための方法として、徳を「預金」しながら毎日を生きているんだということを事を実感できれば、どんなに苦しいことも乗り越えられるのではないか。そして、何より毎日が楽しくなるのではないか。

この本は、私が愛読している本のメルマガで紹介されてすぐに購入していた。
しかし、タイトルの「宇宙銀行」という奇妙な世界に対して、少し抵抗があったためか読みはじめるまでに数ヶ月を要した。
本自体は読みやすく、あっという間に読めてしまう本であった。
宇宙銀行へ徳を積みたてると、自分の願望が叶うという形で帰ってくるという内容について、私自身は「見返り」を期待して「善行」を行うということの理解に苦しむ場面がいくつかあった。
しかし、書かれている徳を積みたてるための行為自体は、自分自身、前向きに取り組まなければいけないことばかりだなと感じていた。
そして、「おわりに」にて著者が書いていることに一番共感した。それは、人間が本質的に持つ願望は、「人から喜ばれ、感謝されること」であるということ。
皆が支えあって、よりよい暮らしを得るために、一歩を踏み出すための「きっかけ」として宇宙銀行へ徳を積みたてるという考え方を提唱していくというのは、「あり」なのかなと思った。
